Renee Prince Armstrong
After retiring and relocating from Northeast Ohio to Central Florida, Renee spent her free time chasing her grandsons and supporting local charitable organizations. While volunteering with the Seminole County Public School System’s Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP), her interests in the plight of disadvantaged families soon focused on teen student athletes who wore athletic shoes in size 12 and larger.
Being a mother of athletes, Renee knew how playing sports would help students become more physically active and develop important life skills. With over 40 years' experience in Business Management, along with B.A. and M.B.A. degrees, she started a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that could be effectively managed while fulfilling a passion for helping others. Big Shoes and Cleats for Teen Athletes, Inc. began operations in August 2016. Renee works for free, and there are no staff salaries.
To provide extended-size athletic shoes, adult size 12 and larger, to economically disadvantaged Middle and High School students for participation in sports activities that help develop life skills, such as initiative, leadership, problem-solving, respect, self-esteem, and teamwork.
